I have accepted an offer to become an Assistant Professor of Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Biology at Columbia University. I will start in Fall 2009. Prospective graduate students and postdocs should contact me about working in my lab at Columbia.

The 2008 Cornell Tropical Field Ecology and Behavior class has been rescheduled for June 23 through July 11, 2008. For more information and to apply, see the course webpage. This course is open to students from anywhere, not just Cornell.

Rebecca Calisi was awarded a Grant-in-Aid of Research from the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology to study brain neural plasticity in relation to the adoption of different breeding roles in free-living cooperatively breeding superb starlings in Kenya. Becca also won the award for Best Student Poster from the Society of Integrative and Comparative Biology’s Division of Neuroscience at the 2008 SICB annual meeting.

Due to post-election violence in Kenya, the 2008 Cornell Tropical Field Ecology and Behavior class was cancelled. If the political climate in Kenya improves, the field course may be rescheduled for June.
